I made this kaleidoscope stand for our friends Helene & Steve as a wedding gift; the kaleidoscope itself came from Nellie Bly in Jerome, Arizona. The metal work in the stand was relatively easy – a felt-lined copper cradle riveted to a steel neck – while the tricky part was fabricating the recessed lazy susan and attaching the cloisonnĂ© bowl to it. The idea is that the bowl can be filled with colorful stones, flower petals, anything interesting or even left empty and give interesting images as the bowl and/or the kaleidoscope tube turns.
